PlaidInvoices emails the original Tesla PDFs to your Xero bills email address, so each invoice arrives as its own draft bill instead of a manual upload.
Connect Tesla and startIn Xero, open the Purchases area and use the option to create a bill from email. Xero shows a bills email address for your organisation. Xero recommends not publishing it.
Sign in with Tesla once. You can connect up to three Tesla accounts, for example a personal and a Tesla Business account.
In Settings, add the Xero address under additional invoice recipients and choose the recipient type "Accounting software". Press Send test and look for a new draft bill in Xero.
Turn on the monthly email, delivery right after each charge, or both. Copies for accounting inboxes come from invoices@plaidinvoices.com, contain only the PDFs and carry at most 10 PDFs per email.
Xero reads bills attached to an email as PDFs and creates draft bills from them, which you review and approve. Xero describes the attachments, not the email body, as the bill. The Tesla invoices arrive as PDFs, one document each.
With several Tesla accounts, limit the Xero recipient to the accounts you choose. For example, only the company car's invoices go to the business organisation in Xero.
If you collect documents in Hubdoc or Dext first, add that tool's email inbox as the recipient instead. Both have their own inbox address for emailed documents, and each attached file becomes its own document.
Press Send test again and check the Draft tab under Purchases. Make sure the address was copied completely. If you ever regenerate the bills address in Xero, update the recipient in PlaidInvoices.
No. PlaidInvoices sends ordinary emails with the original Tesla PDFs to your Xero bills email address and Xero handles them like any emailed bill. There is no API connection.
We have not found a sender allowlist for the Xero bills address. If your Xero setup restricts senders, allow invoices@plaidinvoices.com, and use Send test to confirm.
Yes. Add the email inbox of Hubdoc or Dext as an accounting recipient. Both are on the supported tools list.
Yes. Every copy includes a link to stop receiving copies for your account, without signing in. You can also remove the recipient in Settings at any time.
